Second year Graphic Design students studied the Psychedelia movement, born in the hippie subculture of San Francisco, and the ‘look’ of much of the swinging 60s.
The Mayfly Festival, held at Old Halesonians Rugby Club, features performances from music, dance and drama students, food and craft stalls, archery, shooting and more.
The Psychedelic posters designed by the graphics students were all bright and colourful using typography of the era but brought up to date to appeal to a young at heart audience.
The winning design was produced by Cameron Botfield with runners up George Thorne and Daniyal Khan.
Steve McCarthy, organiser and Music lecturer at Halesowen College, said: “It was such a difficult choice to pick a winner – all the posters looked great. Congratulations to Cameron.”
Mayfly is on Friday 20 May, from 5.30pm.
