Apprentices visit Sizewell B Power Station

Amy Dudfield, Tom Gibbons, Harlee Bate, Philippa Smyth and Lauren Hardman are studying Nuclear Chemistry and were keen to see theory put into practice for power generation. They are studying the Higher National Certificate in Applied Chemistry, which is part of the apprenticeship programme.

Sizewell B is operated by French company EDF Energy, which assigned several guides to show the Halesowen group all aspects of the operation, including the stringent health and safety and environmental requirements of the plant.

Richard Jones, who led the visit from College, said: "The visit had been very informative and opened up more career possibilities to the apprentices.  We hope to make this an annual visit."
